What is Add a Level?
Add a Level is adding a new top floor above an existing structure below. An add a level involves removing the existing roof then adjusting the structure to accept the new floor, structure and roof. Popular add a levels include building above cape cod style homes, ranch style homes and split levels homes as well. For smaller add a level projects, homeowners can also add a level above a 1st floor room such as a kitchen, garage or existing family room. As an example, if a home has an existing second level with an attached garage, it may be possible to add a level above the garage. They can create another bedroom or even a master bedroom suite.
What is an Addition?
An addition is an expansion off of the existing home. It can also pertain to an add a level however it mainly describes adding more space to the existing off of any of the 4 sides. Additions can come in many forms. If they start from the ground up, an addition can have a basement, crawl space, rest on a slab or even it can rest on piers. This will depend on your home addition needs as well as your budget.

One of the most popular style addition is a multi level addition. Usually on the 1st floor, the added space is to expand or relocate the kitchen. Pending your budget, including a family room with the new addition space is also quite popular. Above this addition, you can add a few bedrooms and baths as well.

Below is an Add a Level transformation project we recently completed in Englewood Cliffs New Jersey. This add a level remodel was approximately 5000 sq ft in all. It was an Amazing Transformation. Addition
Addition to homes are a great way to increase the living area. This young family needed more space and an addition was a great way to solve this issue. Below we installed a 1200 sq ft home addition. This addition included a first floor kitchen relocation as well as a new family room. Above we included 2 new bedrooms. The existing master bedroom benefited from the addition as we incorporated a new master bathroom suite into the new space.
